MESSAGE FROM THE CO-PRESIDENTS- June 2010
Our best wishes to the Class of 2010 as they leave Langley and move on to new adventures. We are proud of all you have accomplished both in and out of the classroom.
It has been an exceptional year for the PTSA. Thanks to the generosity of our Langley families, the technology fundraiser was a big success, providing the school with much-needed technology such as Smart Boards and Senseo systems. We also maintained our tradition of supporting continuing education and professional development for teachers and staff, as well as funding speakers for family network programs. Finally, we thank everyone for supporting the PTSA’s efforts during teacher appreciation week. Hats off to the hospitality committee for their hard work in putting together a very special week on short notice. We are extremely fortunate to have such a caring community.
Each year we say good-bye to the extraordinary PTSA volunteers who are graduating along with their seniors. Our heartfelt thanks and wishes for a happy “retirement” go to Laura Mendelsohn, Diane Miller, Cindy Miller, Jamie Kody, Donna Kiffe, Kathy Barton, Kathleen Helein, Chris Berkeley and Karin Brown. Your contributions to Langley will long be remembered.
A special note of thanks goes to Cindy Miller, who has edited this newsletter for nine consecutive years. Cindy facilitated the transition from a printed publication to an e-newsletter, giving us a faster, easier and greener way to share Langley news. If you missed your chance to volunteer this year, do not despair! Check the PTSA website www.langleyptsa.org over the summer for volunteer opportunities. The website also offers valuable information and updates on a variety of topics. Many thanks to Nancy Ayoub, our website curator, for doing a great job managing our site.
Summer is a vulnerable time for our children. Please keep them safe by chaperoning gatherings in your home. Ensure that a responsible adult will be home when your child visits friends. Be certain your child knows you do not approve of under-age drinking. If each of us can commit to providing a safe environment in our homes for our own child, we will create a community that is safe for all children.
Please join us for the final principal’s coffee on Wednesday, May 26 at 9:15 am in the choral room. It will include a brief PTSA general meeting, during which we will vote for next year’s PTSA executive board.
Have a wonderful summer and thanks again to Langley parents, teachers, staff and students for your support of the PTSA this year.
