Class of 2012

Course Selection: Registration for next year's courses is in progress.  Students have been considering their choices for a few weeks and will meet with their counselors in early March to discuss their selections.  Each student's registration form needs to be signed by a parent or guardian before it is processed.

All Night Grad Party Representative(s) Wanted: Our class is looking for one or two people interested in serving as our representative(s) at monthly meetings of the All Night Grad Party (ANGP) committee.  The ANGP is an annual all-night party for graduating seniors and each class helps with the party in a different way.  The role of the Class of 2012 this year is to help with arrangements at the school on June 15 - meeting delivery trucks and setting up chairs, tables, etc. from about 9 am-3 pm.  Our representative(s) would attend meetings at 10 am on April 28, May 19 and June 2, report back to the class parents and help oversee these arrangements.  You will be hearing more about the details of ANGP at our May 5 coffee, and we will be asking for volunteers at that time.  This is an easy way to get involved!  If you are interested, please email us, Langley2012@aol.com.

Class Coffee, May 5 @ 9:15 a.m.

The Freshman Class Parents would like to extend a warm invitation to all of the parents of Langley students to attend the final Freshman Class coffee of the year.  It is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th at 9:15am (sharp)  in the auditorium at Langley High School. We are especially excited about this month’s speaker.

Please join us for a special opportunity to hear Dr. Alan Zametkin, an internationally known expert in child and adolescent psychiatry including mood, anxiety, ADHD and clinical research.  Dr. Zametkin will be addressing the issue: "Anxiety and Depression in Teens:  When to Worry."  You will not want to miss this important discussion.  Learn more about what makes our kids "tick."

Dr. Zametkin is a Senior Clinical Staff Psychiatrist assigned to the Laboratory of Cerebral Metabolism  of the Division of Intramural Research at the National Institute of Mental Health. A graduate of Amherst College, Brown University Program in Medicine, Dr. Zametkin completed his training at Stanford University Medical Center (pediatric internship), UCLA (adult psychiatry), and the Children's National Medical Center (Child Psychiatry).

You won't want to miss this.  Please join us.

Other News

Believe it or not, we are already planning for our senior video.  If you have photos and video of your freshman involved in Langley activities, we would love for you to share them with our Special Moments committee at Photos2012@gmail.com.  Here are the guidelines:

1. Please send us your BEST SHOT, not all 30 photos from one event.
2. All photos must be in JPEG format.
3. All video should be in Quick Time and it should be no more than 1 minute in length.
4. When you send your email please include the following in the subject line: name and date of the event (i.e. Spring Symphony Concert May 1, 2009).
5. If you can, please include the name of each student in your photo in the body of your email.
6. Make sure your photo includes only members of the Class of 2012.  The senior video can only include events that occur at Langley or are related to an official Langley activity, sport or club event.  (For example, we can include a photo of the German Club doing a fundraising car wash at a local service station).  While you might have a great picture of several of the members of the Class of 2012 taken at a party at your home, we cannot include it.
7. If you have a hard copy photo that you would like to submit or if you have questions about the Special Moments committee, please email us, Photos2012@gmail.com.

Thanks again for your cooperation.  If we wait until senior year to do this, it will be difficult to dig up those freshman photos and video!
