CLASS OF 2009
PROM is almost here! Please see information below.
Junior class volunteers are responsible for take-down and clean-up following All Night Graduation Party, which is at Langley on the overnight of June 12-13. We need many hands on deck to arrive in the wee hours of the morning Fri, June 13, to get school ready for underclass students arriving later that morning. Please contact Diane Rapp, dianerapp@att.net, or Jeanne Lenczyk, lenczyk@cox.net, to help.
Graduation portraits for our rising seniors will be taken earlier this year than in years past! Class of 2009 students will be receiving appointment cards in the mail from LifeTouch late in May, scheduling portrait appointments for June 17, 18, 19 and 23. The postcards will provide details on dress and portrait options. While portrait purchases are not required, all rising seniors must sit for these portraits as they are used for the yearbook and school ID cards. If the assigned portrait schedule doesn’t work for your student, rescheduling options are provided by LifeTouch on the postcard.
Please watch for class news in the June newsletter, as well as an important mailing over the summer regarding SENIOR CLASS NEWS for next year!! Hard to believe the Class of ’09 will be seniors! Next year will fly by, and we’ll be providing up-to-date information on activities and senior events through this newsletter, a summer mailing, Back-to-School packets and the class email list! If you haven’t already, join the parents’ class email list by dropping a line to dianerapp@att.net. It will be an exciting year; don’t miss a thing!
Junior/Senior Prom, May 31st
We are still seeking volunteers for Prom 2008! If you would like to help before or during Prom, please contact chair Jeanne Sexton, jsexton@i95.com. We have volunteer slots for prom preparation and prom night, which will fit any skill set and/or time constraints (daytime or evening). This is a great way to stay involved with the junior class, keep current with your student’s activities and meet parents of his/her peers.
PROM is almost here! This fabulous event, Midnight Masquerade, will be Sat, May 31, at Westfields Marriott, 9 pm-1 am. ALL STUDENTS MUST ARRIVE AT PROM PRIOR TO 11 pm TO BE ADMITTED. Students and parents of the Class of ’09 have been hard at work to present a wonderful evening for all seniors and juniors to enjoy.
Prom tickets ($60 per person) will be on sale during all lunches on May 14-16 and 21-23. Students purchasing tickets will need to provide contact information for each person attending. If a date is not a Langley student, additional information is required. If the guest attends another Fairfax County high school, a verification form must be completed by an administrator from that school. If this applies to your student, PLEASE ask him/her to check at the ticket table the first day of ticket sales to obtain the appropriate form!
Parent volunteers are still needed for Prom – shifts are available to fit the schedule of parents who work either inside or outside the home! Please help!
• Ticket sales (per above schedule): contact Cyndi Gray, zmagic7@aol.com. • Decorations assembly (times TBD): contact MaryEllen Overend, meoverend@aol.com. • Decorations setup (day of Prom, Sat, May 31): contact Lucy Moore, lucymoore@verizon.net. • Chaperones (evening of Prom, Sat, May 31): contact Don Weinheimer, don.weinheimer@gmail.com. ** Parents of seniors, sophomores and freshmen are all welcome to chaperone, along with junior parents! We’d love your help and company! • Save those wrapping paper tubes! Decorations committee members need the tubes from inside rolls of wrapping paper. Please deliver them to the school office, marked “PROM – CLASS OF 2009” as soon as possible.
General Information
Things are gearing up for the final months of junior year, and we’ll soon kick off senior year activities (yes, they are almost seniors – hard to believe!). Stay up-to-date on important class news by joining the parent email list; contact Diane Rapp, dianerapp@att.net, to make sure your information is correct. Keep a close watch on future issues of this newsletter for important dates which we will share as soon as we have them! Questions or comments about the Class of ’09? Let one of the class parents hear from you! We are all listed in the directory.
Thank you!
Photos
Our students are collecting photos of their Langley years for the Class of 2009 video which will be produced during senior year. If you or your student have photos for this project, please email them to Jimmy Gimbert, jcgimbert@cox.net, or drop them off in either Mrs. Hamilton’s or Mrs. Broad’s mailbox.
